Jake’s Holiday Shopping Guide
By this point in December, our family group text has taken on a life of its own. It’s been rolling along for weeks, bouncing between meal plans, calendar reminders, and the occasional “did anyone already do this?”
The holiday meal question keeps resurfacing. Turkey had an early lead. Ham gained ground. Lamb still gets mentioned just often enough to stay in the conversation. Every so often someone scrolls back up to add, “Don’t forget we need a gift for the coach,” and suddenly the list gets a little longer.
That’s the season we’re in. Plans evolve, decisions get revisited, and everyone is trying to keep things from getting more complicated than they need to be.
This guide grew out of those same conversations. It pulls the most common questions into one place and helps take a few decisions off the list.
The Main Debate
Once the main is settled, everything else gets easier.
In our family, it usually comes down to turkey, ham, or a roast. Our Holiday Hams, Roasts, and Pastured Turkeys are the meals we plan around ourselves. They work for big gatherings and smaller ones, and they leave you with leftovers that actually get used.
Food for the In-Between Moments
Not every gathering needs a plan. People arrive early, linger longer than expected, or end up back in the kitchen after the meal is done.
That’s where snack sticks and charcuterie come in. They’re easy to set out, easy to share, and a good thing to have on hand when you need something ready without much notice. They also make solid additions to gift bags or hosting help.

The “We Need a Gift for Them” List
This list always grows faster than expected.
Our mugs and sweatshirts are what we reach for when we want a gift that’s useful and familiar. They don’t require much guesswork, and they tend to get used long after the season is over.
They’re also easy to grab when a reminder pops up and the deadline is closer than you thought.

When You’d Rather Let Them Decide
There’s always someone on the list who’s hard to shop for.
A digital gift card keeps things simple and lets them choose what works best for their table or freezer.
Everything in this guide is available through Home Shipping, the Meat Shed, or our December Meat Drop. It reflects the same choices we’re making ourselves as the weeks roll by.
If it helps settle a meal plan, check off a gift, or save you one more trip during an already full month, then it’s doing its job.
