The People's Food Co-op

The People’s Food Co-op in Kalamazoo has been a cornerstone of the community since 1973, initially starting as a small student-run food collective. Today, it has grown into a vibrant community-focused grocery store with a mission to make healthy, sustainable food accessible to all. The co-op is owned by its members and reinvests profits back into the store and community. They focus heavily on supporting local farmers, with produce sourced from around 25 nearby farms. In addition to the grocery offerings, they also emphasize fair wages, sustainability, and food education for the broader Kalamazoo area.
