Prairie Wind Family Farm

Prairie Wind Family Farm is a 40-acre USDA certified organic farm owned and operated by the Miller Family. We are located at the heart of Prairie Crossing, a conservation community in Grayslake, Illinois about 40 miles north of Chicago. Prairie Wind Family Farm serves as Prairie Crossing’s resident farm growing certified organic vegetables and farm fresh eggs. We also offer farm products sourced from local farmers we trust.

After a successful careers in landscape architecture and marketing, we dreamed of building a family business that would make a tangible difference in our community. In 2005, we decided to make changes in our lives: we had our first baby, began our farm at the Prairie Crossing farm and steadily grew our farming knowledge and passion for soil health.

In our 15 years of farming, we've found that the biggest changes can be made through collaboration and continued partnership. We partner with the Liberty Prairie Foundation to mentor the next generation of beginning farmers at Farm Business Development Center. We provide thousands of pounds of organic produce each year to community food pantries. We collaborate with the Prairie Crossing Charter School on their award-winning Farm to Table lunch program and with the Diamond Lake School District Chef's Tasting Table introducing children to healthy, nutrient rich foods. Finally we work with partner farms, chefs and artisans to source local products for our farm stand, develop collaborative farm products and shared events.
