The cleanest and purest fat, perfect for rendering into snow white lard. Great for pie crusts and fried potatoes.
How to render leaf fat into lard, to use for baking and cooking purposes:
1. Thaw
2. Cut fat into small pieces, 1/4" cubes or run through a meat grinder
3. Place diced fat into a crock pot with 1/4 cup water
4. Turn to low
5. Cook for 8-12 hours, stirring occasionally
6. Strain out any un-rendered bits and place in a heat safe container
7. Allow to cool and store in refrigeration
