We won an award! We are thankful and honored the Cass County Conservation District recognized Renee Seelye with the Ag Educator of the Year award for 2025. In December Renee & Nick were able to attend the Conservation Districts' monthly board meeting to meet some of the team members behind the program, and accept the award.

"Sharing the story of our farm is one of our greatest joys. It’s also the most impactful way we know to create real change and make thoughtful decisions as farmers. Our family has been farming for seven generations, but everything shifted the moment we began connecting directly with the people we feed. Educating at farmers markets, writing our monthly farm blogs, and opening the gate through social media have helped bridge that long-standing gap between food production and the families who rely on it. Those conversations - the honest ones about land, animals, and the responsibility we carry - have shaped our farm into what it is today. We work hand-in-hand with the land, animals, and community to build something that will stand the test of time and be here for your kids, and their kids. More than anything, we want people to understand where their food comes from and to feel proud and connected to the entire process. Understanding your land and the people you feed is an absolute treasure, and it’s an honor to be recognized for it by the Conservation District." - Renee Seelye (7th generation farmer at Jake's Country Meats)

CREATE & CONQUER

At the start of each year, Renee chooses one word to help set the tone for the months ahead. Last year, that word was CREATE. It wasn’t about chasing a goal or making a big change, but about paying attention to how often creating shows up in everyday life, especially on the farm. As this year wrapped up, choosing the next word took a little more time. With new projects ahead and a few challenges on the horizon, 2026 is already asking for a different kind of focus.

So many eggs...

In our latest blog, Renee reflects on the rhythm of the New Year, finding steadiness not in perfect resolutions but in simple, nourishing meals shared at home. From easy weeknight dinners to a filling egg casserole that carried the family through busy days, she shares how cooking with intention, and leaning into an abundance of farm eggs this season, helps keep everyone well fed and grounded through winter.

Big Game Wings

A snow day, a big game, and chicken wings on the table. We tried our new fully cooked buffalo wings for the first time and loved how easy they were to make in the air fryer, with great flavor to match. If you’re looking for a simple, protein-forward option, we offer two kinds of wings, party-cut or fully cooked buffalo, and both work well in the oven or air fryer. The only real difference is the cook time, and you can find the recipe for both here.
