Behind the Scenes: A Week of Hustle, Harmony, and Excitement

The holiday season is here, and this week might just be our busiest yet! From the warehouse to the office to the pastures, every part of the farm is buzzing with activity. Each task plays a role in what we love most: connecting you to the best food we can produce for your holiday celebrations.

Warehouse Hustle

The warehouse is at the center of the action this week, handling an incredible flurry of tasks. Our focus is on sorting turkeys and preparing orders for our upcoming Meat Drops, ensuring everyone has what they need for their holiday tables. At the same time, we’re packing up Home Shipping orders destined for doorsteps across the country and prepping the truck for wholesale deliveries. Keeping our Network of Local Food Connections fully stocked is a year-round priority, but this week, it feels especially important. Every box, pallet, and turkey reflects the care we put into making your holiday meals unforgettable.

Office Buzz

The office is just as busy, balancing everything from crafting newsletters and sharing farm updates to connecting with wholesale and retail customers. Emails are flying, phone calls are ringing, and spreadsheets are humming as we finalize orders and schedules. Even the routine tasks—like paying bills and recording inventory—are done with purpose, ensuring every part of the farm is ready for the season ahead. Amid the whirlwind, staying connected with you—our customers and partners—is what keeps us going.

Life on the Farm

Out on the pastures, the week has been just as eventful. We’ve welcomed 125 pregnant ewes to the farm, marking the return of sheep to our grass-fed program for the first time in many years! These hardworking ewes have quickly taken to their roles, grazing the fields and regenerating the land by mowing grass and stomping nutrients into the soil.

Later this week, we’ll also be introducing a new herd of cattle. Like the ewes, these grass-fed and finished animals are an essential part of our regenerative farming practices, living their lives out on pasture while helping build healthy soils and thriving ecosystems.

Looking Ahead

The return of sheep also means the return of lambing season! In mid-December, these ewes will begin welcoming their lambs, and we couldn’t be more excited. Lambing is always a special time on the farm, but this year feels extra meaningful after so many years without sheep in our pastures. We can’t wait to share the journey with you—stay tuned for updates and plenty of adorable moments!

Why It Matters

This busy week highlights what we love about this work: the connections between the land, the animals, and you. Whether it’s preparing turkey orders, caring for livestock, or crafting newsletters, every task supports a system that values sustainability, community, and care.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. Here’s to a holiday season filled with wholesome food, shared meals, and meaningful connections!

The History of Meat Drops

During the winter months, we stay connected through our Meat Drops. What started with a notepad and a rotary phone looks a little different these days, but every order reminder still takes us back to the early days. This is a small look at how that winter rhythm began, and why, all these years later, it still matters to us.

Why We Choose A Different Way

For more than 25 years, our family has raised and sold meat directly to the families who cook it. What started as a simple decision to offer a different option has shaped how we farm today and how real food can quietly strengthen your year, one steady choice at a time.

CREATE & CONQUER

At the start of each year, Renee chooses one word to help set the tone for the months ahead. Last year, that word was CREATE. It wasn’t about chasing a goal or making a big change, but about paying attention to how often creating shows up in everyday life, especially on the farm. As this year wrapped up, choosing the next word took a little more time. With new projects ahead and a few challenges on the horizon, 2026 is already asking for a different kind of focus.
