Holiday Hams
The key to making large pieces of meat for the holidays is proper time management. Go by the guidelines I’ve listed for thawing and cooking your ham. If you stick to these it will give you one less thing to worry about!
  • Cook Time:

Directions

Thaw your ham completely in the refrigerator. Thawing will take 4-6 hours per pound, so make sure to allow sufficient time.

Preheat your oven to 350 dg.

Bring your ham to room temperature before placing it in the oven. This should take around 2 hours.

Place the ham on a rack and then into the oven.

Cook the ham for aprx. 10-15 minutes per pound. For example, an 8 pound ham will take about 1-2 hours.

(Optional) When you have about 30 minutes left, pour your glaze over the ham.

Use an instant-read thermometer if you have one, the internal temperature should be 140-145 degrees for the ham to be done.

Remove, let rest tented by tinfoil for about 15 minutes, slice and enjoy.

Optional Ham Glaze

The ratio of brown sugar to honey is 3:1. So, if you want to increase the amount you’re making, just multiply the amount of honey you want to use by three. I like to put my glaze on for the last 30 minutes of cooking.

Ingredients

1 ½ C light brown sugar

½ C honey

Directions

Combine brown sugar and honey in a small saucepan over low-medium heat.

Cook while stirring until melted and combined.
